Following Jesus – Making Disciples – Changing the World

Sermons by Brian Olsen

Small Beginnings

(Luke 13:18-21) – We’ll also learn from scripture, how God specializes in using what seems like insignificant spiritual ‘inroads’ to bring about serious influence and expansion for His Kingdom.  Like a mustard seed, or a pinch of leaven, all God needs is an ‘entry point’ to bring change to our lives…our community…and our world!

Choosing Faith Over Fear

(Luke 12:4-12) Do we trust and reverence God more than we fear the opinion & opposition of people?  The answer we give to that question  has huge ramifications for our faith!  Jesus modeled for us a life that consistently chose faith over fear – and He call us as His disciples to do the same.

The Least is the Greatest

(Luke 9:44-50) – How do we measure “greatness?”  Most of us probably think of greatness in terms of power, fame, wealth, stature or influence; and we spend all too much time & effort posturing and comparing ourselves to others.  Yet, Jesus shows us that the path of true greatness lies in humble and selfless service.

Amazed at the Grace of God

(Luke 9:37-43) – We all know what it is like to enjoy “mountaintop experiences” in life.  We also know what it is to face “valleys.”  But the saving & transforming grace of God is not limited by our “highs” and “lows.”  The Lord touches us on the highest mountains and reaches us in the deepest valleys.
