On Wednesday, April 1, more than 1,000 people died of Covid-19. Millions are suddenly out of work. Marriages are struggling due to an excess of togetherness. Everyone is worried about the economy. Jesus is Lord.
Of all the statements above, “Jesus is Lord” is the one I am trying to keep my focus on. Of course, “Jesus is Lord” doesn’t mean that trouble won’t befall us. It means that He will carry His church through the troubles. The next few weeks/months may grow worse, and they may hit you hard, and we all may have to continue to walk through some difficult times for an extended stretch, but Jesus is Lord, and He has promised that He will always be with us. Matthew 28:20 Hebrews 13:5
“Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus” seems a really appropriate song selection for this week’s blog. Joel and Beka are featured in this one (at home, by phone) and yours truly jumps in via another home and another phone. Clearly, we are practicing our social distancing, but we are also proving that nothing can stop the work of the church. We merely adjust tactics and continue our work.
In listening, you may ask who the harmony voice is in the background. I must admit, it isn’t me (I only play cajon in this one), it’s Joel and Beka’s camera-man extraordinaire, who will only be named if he wants to be named. I love it so much. This video provides any viewer with two of the things we all need to get through this crisis: Jesus, and a little chuckle.
