In light of COVID-19, we are not meeting in person for Youth Group, but we will continue to gather with weekly ZOOM meetings.

The Church is not a building. It’s not a secret club or handshake. It is broken people, redeemed by a perfect Savior, following the way of Jesus and welcoming the kingdom of God into their lives, families, and cities.
This is the heart behind Journey Youth Group. We are a family (from many different backgrounds and situations), committed to each other, the city of Tacoma, and most importantly Jesus Christ. Our ultimate goal is to grow to discipleship to Jesus. Practically this takes the form of sharing our stories with each other, playing together, serving within our church and community, worshiping together, and praying diligently for God’s kingdom to break through the cracks of this earth.
What to Expect
Every Tuesday night, middle and high school students join together with our Journey Youth team for an evening of fun, food, and discipleship.
We play games, tell stories over dinner, and spend time exploring scripture. Our hope is that Journey Youth Group is a welcoming environment for middle and high school students from all walks of life to let our guards down, destress and regain perspective, connect relationally, ask hard questions, and engage with the life-changing teachings of Jesus.
What’s Happening Now?
This fall, we are exploring Life in Ordinary Time: Bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to Tacoma. Regardless of spiritual beliefs, there is a nearly universal understanding that the human heart longs for something more. Scripture and the teachings of Jesus tell us that longing is for God’s kingdom and the perfect unity, wholeness, and satisfaction that defines it.
Jesus also teaches his followers that “You won’t be able to say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over there!’ For the Kingdom of God is already among you.” (Luke 17:21) But what does that mean? If the Kingdom of Heaven is here, why is there so much pain? What does it look like to be God’s hope on earth while attending classes and juggling sports, family, and school? We’ll talk about all of this and more.
What if I Can’t Come on Tuesdays?
That’s ok! There are lots of opportunities to connect. We regularly get together for fun events—bowling, mini golf, movie nights, escape rooms—as well as times of discipleship and bible study. E-mail Joel (firstname.lastname@example.org) to add your name to the Journey Youth e-mail list. Click here for more information about our summer camp and retreats throughout the year.
